Click + Read = Love

I spend a lot of time online after I put the little man to bed (I think I prefer it to watching TV) and wanted to share some of my favorite online magazines.  Granted, I do like paper in hand (which is why I don’t think I’d ever own a Kindle – mom and pop bookstores are at the top of my list of best-loved places), but I always look forward to new issues of the following:

Gifted Magazine
Design and inspiration blog, Creature Comforts, just debuted it’s new, cool online magazine, Gifted. Collaborating with other crafty and creative bloggers, this magazine will inspire you to make something handmade for yourself or someone special.  It’s like the best of all things DIY combined with your own Etsy-type personal shopper with great gift suggestions for the upcoming holiday season.

Lonny Magazine
I was totally bummed when design and living magazine “Domino” went caput, and was thrilled to discover that some of their designers and writers went on to create Lonny Magazine a year or so later.  I think my favorite part of the issues is the way they will feature an awesome chair, a beautiful purse, perfect earrings and hard to find stationery all on the same spread.  And if you’re looking to re-do a room, you won’t have to put a major dent in your savings account with their suggestions.

I adore this living room.  Cozy, airy and sophisticated.  My good friend and I were just talking about doing large prints of our kids on canvas and the photo of father and son on the wall is darling.  I also like how it’s not the focal point of the room.  The high ceiling and french doors are my favorite design (it looks like my house!) and I love the fabric covered stools.

Lonny Magazine’s amazing gift guide.  I want everything! Lonny editors give their recommendations for their favorite items for gift giving this season.

Rue Magazine
Rue Magazine celebrates your chic and stylish lifestyle and that “inspiration is everywhere.”  Rue recently launched with their premiere issue and I can’t get enough.  This issue features SF interior designer Grant Gibson, and his favorite places to shop in the city for beautiful furniture and accessories for your home.  The “Studio Tour” highlights the stylish design space of Los Angeles stationery designer Megan Gonzalez (I love seeing the desks and offices of artists, designers, and creators!) Can’t wait for their next issue!

Habitat Magazine – UK
Habitat Magazine – UK recently launched their first issue and is carrying on the design tradition (Habitat was originally an interiors store in the UK where one could find everything they needed for a stylish abode).  The magazine features the coolest chairs, comfy beds, and tricks of the trade for creating an elegant, all white room.  This is a great magazine if you like the simple, clean design from IKEA.  I like the travel feature on where to eat, stay, drink (this month’s feature location is Barcelona.) Makes for a temporary escape overseas!

Cellardoor Magazine – UK
Also from the UK comes Cellardoor Magazine, the perfect place to feature upcoming fashion designers, photographers, artists (think illustrators, stylists, bands and models.)  In the current autumn issue, they did an entire fashion spread via polaroid that was pretty cool.  The magazine feels like a younger, softer “W” and is a perfect read if you love beautiful photography, music, art and emerging fashion.  They also have a great blog which should not be missed.
